Rabbit Air MinusA2 review

The Rabbit Air MinusA2 with BioGS HEPA technology was built with versatility in mind. At a mere 7 inches in depth, it does not interfere with your personal style and is virtually silent in sleep mode to ensure a peaceful night’s sleep and maximum efficiency. With a six-stage air filtration system and a selection of four customized filters, (Pet Allergy, Germ Defense, Toxin Absorber, and Odor Remover) the MinusA2 is designed to accommodate a wide range of allergies and sensitivities. A long-lasting filter system and energy efficient design make the MinusA2 incredibly affordable to maintain. Just vacuum the surface of the pre-filter once a month and change the filters every one to two years. Designed either to stand alone or be mounted on a wall, the MinusA2 air purifier is a versatile and attractive addition to your home or office. While bulky, unsightly purifiers are often hidden out of view, behind couches and inside closets, the MinusA2 is a slim, stylish model which complements home décor while improving the air you breathe and eliminating harmful toxins.

Rabbit Air’s BioGS HEPA Technology

Well prepared for nearly every type of airborne contaminant, the Rabbit Air MinusA2 is fully equipped with a six-stage filtration process – among the most comprehensive out there. And which is the most powerful of its filters? It has to be Rabbit Air’s proprietary BioGS HEPA filter that takes the cake.

The BioGS HEPA filter is constructed of an extremely fine mesh which allows air to pass through unobstructed, but manages to trap nearly all airborne particles. In fact, the BioGS HEPA filter is certified to catch 99.97% of all contaminants greater than 0.3 microns in size – that’s extremely microscopic!

This, combined with the five other stages of purification that make up the Rabbit Air MinusA2, means that you’ll be breathing healthier air just minutes after taking the air purifier out of the box and starting it up for the first time. From there, the unit’s auto-adjust feature can maintain the level of purification in your home with little to no additional effort on your part.

You can mount the MinusA2 on your wall, which is a unique design feature that gives you even more placement options. With the custom artistic panels, you can change a standard-looking appliance into a piece of art that you can hang on your wall. One of the standout features of the MinusA2 is the air-quality sensor on the front. This lighted bar changes colors to indicate the pollution level in the area so you know when you need the purifier. In addition, the filter monitor tells you when it’s time to change an air filter. This home air purifier also includes a sleep mode to avoid disturbing you at night while it runs.

The MinusA2 is Energy Star verified, meaning it consumes less energy than models that lack this verification mark. In our testing, we found the unit uses about 95 watts on its highest settings, which is just above the average consumption of the models we reviewed. The California Air Research Board has certified the MinusA2, meaning it produces little or no emissions during operation. However, the model is not AHAM verified, which means Rabbit Air may or may not have followed the testing procedures AHAM created as an industry standard.

Unfortunately, this air cleaner lacks an operation timer, which means you can’t program it to run at specific times of the day. However, it does have an auto mode, which uses the air-quality sensor to measure the level of pollutants in your home so it can clean the air as needed.

A light sensor will automatically transition the unit to sleep mode when the MinusA2 is in a dark room, and resumes a more active mode when light levels increase. Amazingly energy-efficient, this is the kind of air purifier that you can use out round-the-clock without ever worrying about what kind of impact it will have on your monthly (or annual) energy bill.

Overall, as long as it fits within your budget, there’s no way that anyone could go wrong with the Rabbit Air MinusA2. It’s easily among the most powerful and well performing – yet still extremely quiet – residential and office air purifiers on the market, with purification capabilities equal to those commonly used in medical facilities. It’s also compact and able to blend into your home or business without most guests even giving it a second glance.

Rabbit Air MinusA2 review scores :

Overall score for the Rabbit Air MinusA2 Air Purifier is mainly how well the model removed dust and smoke from a test chamber, plus quietness for room purifiers and airflow resistance for whole-house units.
Dust/pollen/smoke removal: How well models cleared air of fine clay dust and cigarette smoke; performance of portables is at their highest and lowest speeds. Ones that scored well for dust removal should perform comparably for pollen.
Noise: Based on instrument measurements with a portable model running at its highest and lowest speeds.

  1. This is my second minus A2 now, this new one I got is the SPA780N which has the app support. Since most of the other reviews went over all the general information, here is a quick gist: This is one of the top of the line air purifiers on the market, made in Korea, not china, and is one of the only air purifiers that is wall mountable. In addition, it uses a brushless motor, this alone sets it apart from other top tier brands since everybody else uses brushed motors. A brushed motor has a definite limited lifespan as the carbon blocks wear out due to friction, rabbit air uses brushless motors which lasts longer (in order or magnitudes) and is more efficient.

The big shocker: I took it apart, just because I am a curious person, and saw that they used a very high quality Panasonic brushless motor. This was icing on the cake on an very well built air purifier, a motor that 99.999% of the customers won’t ever see and they chose to use top tier motor rather than some generic Chinese one. Little details like foam gaskets on the filters, magnetic closing mechanism for the latch, and even the pleasant chime goes a long way in making the high price worth it.

The verdict is, if you have the money, you should very much get this because an air purifier is something that is run 24/7, might as well get the best.

The app itself while being version 1 works well, no bugs to report yet.

  2. Extremely happy with my purchase! Would recommend to anyone who is searching for quality at a reasonable price.

  3. An Attractive Air-Filter with Relatively Low Annual Cost
First, let me say why I bought this over other Air Purifiers: I bought this for my mother (who is terrible with electronics) for allergy season. It has a remote, but if you lose or break the remote, you can still use the buttons on the console. Rabbit Air has a solid reputation for customer service, a 5 year warranty, a 24/7 help line (with a call center staffed with native English speakers). Now onto the features. Noise: This machine has 5 different Power settings (and two auto settings). The machine is more-or-less whisper quiet in silent mode. I used it in my bedroom a few nights, and I have no problem with the volume in low or silent modes. High and Turbo are really better for cleaning the air if you aren’t around. Auto/Pollen (the two sensor modes) generally will keep the device in low or silent, unless you’re running it for the first time. Effectiveness: Unfortunately, the only other product I have to compare it to is a Honeywell device, but I believe the product works quite well. My mother has been sleeping better, and her bedroom’s air smells fresher than it did previously. Maintenance: The Purifier comes with one set of filters and a pre-filter. The pre-filter should be washed once every month or two, and the set of filters (must be purchased as a set) should be replaced every year or so. Fortunately, the filters are relatively cheap at ~$80. There is a LED that lights up when the filter should be replaced. There is also an air-quality sensor that the device uses for the automatic settings which needs to be cleaned with a Q-Tip every month or two. Removing the pre-filter and front cover takes about 10 seconds. Replacing the filter set is a little complicated, but straight-forward with included instructions, and should take about 5-10 minutes. Size and Appearance: The MinusA2 has a decent footprint. It isn’t exactly portable at a little under 20 lbs, but it isn’t very cumbersome either. It is about the size of one of a full-sized desktop tower. The air vent is on the top of the unit, and the air intake is all around the front panel of the unit. You can also purchase an optional wall-mount kit. It’s a bit deeper than you probably imagine from the picture, but it’s still a relatively attractive appliance rather than a box on wheels. The device has a set of blue LEDs while operational. They are less bright than the average cell-phone’s screen. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the purchase.

  4. Great purifier, extremely quiet.
